A Brief History of Nissan
Nissan is a Japanese automaker that has been known by many different names over the course of its existence. Nissan can trace its origins all the way back to 1914.
The company started by making trucks as there was no demand for passenger cars at the time. In 1931, the company created its first Datsun vehicle. The Nissan name came about in the early 1930’s, and was adopted officially in 1934. Once again, WWII interrupted vehicle production as the company was used for the war effort.
After the war, Nissan quickly moved to start importing cars to the U.S. By 1958, Nissan was selling its smaller cars in America. The company experienced great success in the U.S., and by the 1970’s was opening up factories in North America. Nissan introduced the Roadster in 1967, and it took the racing world by storm and launched Nissan into sports car production in the 1970’s. In 1970, Nissan introduced the 240Z, which became the world’s best-selling sports car.
Nissan has done a great job of expanding into lucrative markets. The company is planning on expanding its operations in China, and it also plans on opening a factory in India, which are rapidly growing automobile markets.
